The HVU3A Family History group was originally the Bakewell U3A Family History Group but amalgamated with the Hope Valley U3A when it was realised most of its members lived in or near the Hope Valley. It is therefore far and away the oldest group in the HVU3A.
We are a group of Family History enthusiasts - some with a lot of experience in researching and recording, and others who are new to investigating their Family History. Discoveries and expertise are shared
The programme is very informal and decided by the members. Every other meeting is devoted to topics presented to the group by those who offer to do so. Some members present using PowerPoint, others prepare notes to hand out. Alternating meetings are practical when members bring their laptops or tablets and the group helps to solve their mysteries and problems.
